The Health Minister David Clark has given the board of Waikato District Health Board two weeks to convince him they shouldn't be sacked and be replaced by a commissioner.
Dr Clark is extremely dissatisfied with the DHB citing performance failures , and a deficit forecast to hit $56 million by late June. The board's chair Sally Webb told Checkpoint she supported the move.
However, board member Dave MacPherson says appointing a commissioner won't fix any of the problems the DHB is facing. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
