Tech companies under pressure after Christchurch call

From Morning Report, 7:29 am on 17 May 2019

A technology reporter for the New York Times says tech giants are now under pressure to act against people using their platforms to spread terrorist content, after committing to the Christchurch Call pledge. Eight companies signed up to the agreement in Paris, including Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and YouTube, along with 17 countries. But notably the US snubbed the Call, saying that while it endorses its overarching goals, it cannot sign up to the pledge. The New York Times' Cecilia Kang says the summit has set an international precedent - she talks to Susie Ferguson.
