Police are continuing their hunt for those responsible for fatally shooting a young man in a south Auckland park at the weekend.
Twenty-one-year-old Samiuela Anania Tupou was killed in Seaside Park in Otāhuhu in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It follows escalating violence in parts of Otāhuhu and neighbouring suburb Ōtara, where there has been more than a dozen shootings in the past year.
Mr Tupou's family and friends say he was a hard working, fun loving young man who went to church regularly.
The chair of the Māngere-Ōtahuhu Board, Lemauga Lydia Sosene told RNZ reporter Joanna MacKenzie that escalating guns violence needs to be tackled.
