Protestors trying to stop a housing development near Māngere in Auckland say they're more determined than ever to prevent it going ahead, and will remain at Ihumātao for as long as it takes.
The land, next to the Otuataua Stonefields Historic Reserve near Auckland Airport, is zoned as special housing, and is owned by Fletcher Building.
A group of people has been occupying the land in peaceful protest, but were evicted on Tuesday by the local iwi's kaumatua, while three activists were arrested at the cordon and charged with obstructing the police.
One of those evicted at Ihumātao, Mirky, told RNZ reporter Tom Furley that he's been living there for two and a half months, and doesn't plan to move on any time soon.
