The association which most professional gas technicians belong to is considering raising the minimum liability insurance after an explosion in Christchurch that destroyed a home, sent six people to hospital and rendered nine homes nearby potentially uninhabitable.
Members of Master Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Incorporated are required to have a minimum insurance policy $1 million, but are now considering raising it substantially.
The gasfitter who attended the home a day before it was levelled was not a member.
