Police are reporting a sharp drop in dairy robberies after the government dished out more than $2 million for extra security measures.
National set up a $1.8 million fund to cover half the cost of safety systems - like alarms and fog cannons - in June 2017.
Dairies were slow to take up the offer, so the coalition government lowered the contribution rate and now the money's all spent.
The police are hailing the fund a success - but how do shopkeepers on the ground feel?
