Govt promises power prices will fall

The Energy Minister says she needs to see more information to ensure power companies aren't making excessive profits. After a review of the electricity sector, the government is moving forward with changes designed to drive down power prices. It is also promising new restrictions on the major power generators requiring them to sell electricity "at affordable rates" to smaller retailers through the wholesale market. Energy Minister, Megan Woods told Corin Dann, says there needs to be more transperancy, and to ensure that new players can enter the market who will offer new and innovative products.
