Hype-filled claims led to loosely controlled NZTA contracts
Ministerial briefings show that officials passed hype-filled claims from a Silicon Valley company to Simon Bridges when he was Transport Minister, that paved the way for loosely controlled contracts. But though millions of dollars was spent, the projects did not live up to their billing. Phil Pennington reports the high-tech spending coincided with the underfunding of road safety regulation enforcement.
