America's Centers for Disease Control warned on Monday that the United States is on course to record 100,000 coronavirus deaths by the beginning of next month.
Some models predict that grim moment may be reached sooner than June the 1st.
The CDC itself is now in the eye of a political storm, after one of President Trump's top advisers accused the Atlanta-based government body of "letting the country down" in the early stages of the pandemic.
