Aged care nurses want to be paid like hospital counterparts

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 6 August 2020

Aged care nurses want to be paid as much as their counterparts in public hospitals.

They say that underfunding of the sector sees registered nurses paid on average 10,000 dollars less than those working for DHBs.

A group of nurses will present a petition, signed by 15,000 people, to the government on Thursday, asking for them to balance the scales.

Dr Frances Hughes is the chair of the New Zealand Aged Care Association Nursing Leadership Group.
