A Wellington city councillor is furious at Kiwirail's attempts to relocate its new ferry terminal into downtown Wellington.
Kiwirail has rejected calls to put the new Cook Strait ferry terminal at Kaiwharawhara, claiming it's too earthquake prone. Instead it wants to berth at Kings Wharf near its rival, Bluebridge.
The terminal is needed to house the new ferries which are due in 2024.
Standing on the waterfront overlooking Kings Wharf, Wellington City Councillor Nicola Young told RNZ reporter Catherine Hutton why she's so opposed to Kiwirail moving closer to the city centre.
