Judith Collins backs review of managed isolation facilities

From Morning Report, 7:29 am on 4 November 2020

National Party leader Judith Collins is backing a review of managed isolation facilities, after two staff members contracted Covid-19 while working.

The NZ Nurses Organisation wants an urgent review of how the Covid-19 isolation hotels are being run, saying staff are becoming increasingly anxious and fearful.

Collins said the calm of the post-election period would be a good time for a review.

"I believe it is time for a review of what has actually gone on, but also how to improve it because the last thing we want is complacency setting in and all of a sudden, Covid-19 is back."

She also wants to see a change in tone from way staff member infections are being presented to the public.

"I know that the government likes to say that the fact that some staff have been picked up as having Covid-19 is somehow indication of success.

"I don't think it is for those staff and also for their families and everyone else who comes in contact."
