The Waihi Beach community in Bay of Plenty is in shock after a woman died after being attacked a shark late yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Waihi Beach soon after 5pm after reports of a woman injured in the water. She died a short time later.
Garry Webber, the mayor of the Western Bay of Plenty District, spoke to reporter Jean Bell.
