Archaeologists, historians and iwi authorities have been disturbed at news someone has illegally helped themself to an archaeological site, destructively digging as much as a 1.5 metres through an early site used by Maori.
Jane MacKnight, of Heritage New Zealand/ Pouhere Taonga told Morning Report about the damage.
