In May, the remaining six Defence Force personnel will leave Afghanistan, ending one of the longest running deployments in our history.
More than 3,500 personnel have served in Afghanistan and ten soldiers from New Zealanders have died.
It's estimated about 157,000 people have been killed in the Afghanistan war since 2001, more than 43,000 being civilians.
