Waikato DHB paints bleak picture of health inequities

The Waikato District Health Board has painted a bleak picture of the inequities experienced by Māori and Pasifika in its area.

The DHB says that 60 percent of patients receiving kidney dialysis are Māori, and most of them also have diabetes.

It's one of a range of health-related inequities that the board wants to improve urgently.

It's director of Māori Equity Strategy and Research, Dr Nina Scott spoke to Corin Dann.
