Auckland DHB say they need hundreds more vaccinators - and fast - if they're to have any hope of meeting their vaccination targets.
Counties Manukau DHB's chief executive Margie Apa, who is working with the city's three district health boards on the vaccine roll-out, says they need more than 1000 more.
She says they want nurses to be able to do their Pfizer vaccine training more quickly and she is waiting for a change to kick in to allow so called non regulated vaccinators.
That is non-medical people who can be trained to deliver vaccinations.
She told health correspondent Rowan Quinn it would be a game changer.
