NZ history lessons may cause classroom arguments - experts

From Morning Report, 8:12 am on 20 May 2021

Experts appointed to scrutinize the new history curriculum say that while they welcome the focus on New Zealand history, they're concerned that divisive classroom debates could erupt over some of the most traumatic episodes.

To be rolled out next year, the scheme will see students up to year 10 taught about Maori history, patterns of migration, the Treaty of Waitangi, and the New Zealand wars.

One of the co-convenors of the report is Charlotte Macdonald.
