ACC biased against women, Māori and Pasifika, analysis finds

From Morning Report, 7:50 am on 21 June 2021

New analysis shows ACC is biased against women, Māori and Pasifika.

Women are less likely to make claims, more likely to be declined when they do, and receive far less compensation than men.

Over the past five years, it's actually become harder for women - especially Māori and Pasifika women - to get ACC claims accepted.

Critics say it's proof of what they've long suspected - the ACC system is sexist and racist, and urgent changes are needed.

RNZ investigative journalist Anusha Bradley reports.
