Covid-19: Chris Bishop on testing in Wellington

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 24 June 2021

Health authorities are scrambling this morning to be able to meet demand from Wellingtonians for Covid-19 tests.

The central testing station at Taranaki Street is fully booked for today, but a pop-up testing station has opened at Hataitai Park.

There are other dedicated testing stations at Porirua, Johnsonville, Lower Hutt, and Upper Hutt.

People can also be tested at many GP or urgent care clinics.

Calls overwhelmed health helpline services on Wednesday, and people were turned away from testing stations if they didn't have an appointment.

National Party Covid-19 spokesperson Chris Bishop spoke to Susie Ferguson.
