Converse public art campaing accused of misleading

From Morning Report, 7:44 am on 7 July 2021

The shoe brand Converse is being accused of misleading people with its global public art campaign, Converse City Forests, in which it claims the murals it's painted are the equivalent of more than 9000 trees.

One of the murals was painted on Karaka Street in Auckland last month, and Converse claims the eye catching 195 square metre artwork is the equivalent of planting 182 trees.

But as reporter Ben Strang has found out, the paint used in the murals is actually releases much more carbon than it absorbs.
