From Morning Report, 8:48 am on 26 July 2021

Thousands of anti-lockdown protesters took to the streets in violent clashes with police across Australia during the weekend.

Police have issued more than 500 fines, with most relating to demonstrations in Sydney and Melbourne.

At least 57 people have been charged - including two after a police horse was punched.

This comes as New South Wales recorded its highest daily tally of the latest outbreak yesterday, with 163 new community cases.

University of Melbourne epidemiologist Professor Tony Blakely spoke to Susie Ferguson.
