A 17-year-old from Dunedin has become New Zealand's strongest hope in the pool at the Olympics, after making the final of the women's 400-metres freestyle.
Erika Fairweather, who is the youngest New Zealand athlete in Tokyo, finished second in her heat in the fourth fastest time overall.
The final will be raced this afternoon at 2.20pm NZT.
