Emotions have been high across the nation watching Lisa Carrington make history- but especially so for those who have watched her put in the years of work.
Family friend Tony Lovett co-founded the Eastern Bay Canoe Racing Club with Carrington's dad.
He reckons Lisa Carrington is "the Usain Bolt of of kayaking".
