Tens of thousands of people are fleeing the US state of Louisiana, as a monster storm of potentially historic proportions, barrels towards the state.
Hurricane Ida is currently a Category 4 storm, with wind speeds up to 240-kilometres per hour.
It's only 10 kilometres per hour short of a category five hurricane - the highest classification of storms. No category five has ever hit Louisiana.
The hurricane's rapidly intensified since striking Cuba over the weekend, and has started wreaking havoc in Louisiana.
The "life-threatening" storm comes on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005 and killed 1800 people.
WWL New Orleans news director Dave Cohen spoke to Corin Dann.
