From Morning Report, 7:52 am on 6 October 2021

The Government's sweeping review of election law, launched yesterday, will look at the ability of Maori voters to switch between Maori and general electoral rolls before the 2023 election.

"We want to make election rules clearer and fairer to build more trust in the system and better support people to exercise their right to vote", Minister of Justice Kris Faafoi said in the announcement of the review.

Dr Maria Bargh, associate professor at Victoria University of Wellington, who researches Maori representation and political participation spoke to Morning Report's Kim Hill.
