People employed to clean Auckland Council and University of Auckland are relying on food parcels to feed their families and using up their annual leave to make ends meet.
Auckland Council says its done its bit and paid its cleaning contractors in full during August and in part for September.
The university isn't responding to RNZ's questions.
That leaves the cleaners, and their union, asking where has the money gone?
