Auckland senior students are staying away in droves from school despite having the chance to return to class after their 10 week lockdown.
Education Ministry figures show less than half of the region's year 11, 12 and 13 students were at school on any given day last week.
Those who have returned are getting used to wearing masks in class and preparing for their NCEA and Scholarship exams.
