A new report shows institutionalised government racism has been responsible for the over-representation of Māori in state care.
The independent report was commissioned from Ihi Research by the Crown Response to the Abuse in Care inquiry.
The work pulls together data from several sources about Māori in state care between 1950 and 1999.
RNZ Māori News Director Māni Dunlop spoke to one of the co-authors, Annabel Ahuriri-Driscoll about the report's significance.
