A surge in demand for maple syrup - and a poor season for growers, has forced The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers to use their reserve for the first time in three years.
The organisation helps regulate and oversee production of maple syrup in the region and released about half of its emergency reserve - roughly 22 million kilograms of the country's liquid gold.
So how worried should the world's maple syrups fans be?
