ICU nurse might leave NZ after residency rigmarole

From Morning Report, 7:38 am on 23 December 2021

An intensive care nurse who immigrated to New Zealand is so fed up with residence visa red tape she is considering taking her skills overseas.

The woman is among several ICU nurses whose high-priority applications have been put on hold while Immigration New Zealand concentrates on a new visa category for critical workers, the 2021 Resident Visa.

The visa category opened at the start of the month to streamline residency applications and has had more than 10,000 applications.

RNZ political reporter Anneke Smith has more.
