Emergency Departments are preparing to see an onslaught of Omicron cases, once the Covid-19 variant starts spreading in the community.
Emergency medicine specialist Dr John Bonning expects New Zealand primary health and ED services will be bombarded with people who are unwell, but not sick enough for inpatient care.
He says people are already waiting hours in emergency departments this summer for treatment.
He spoke to Sarah Robson.
