Could be more victims of abuse in Catholic Church - survivors

From Morning Report, 8:23 am on 2 February 2022

Survivors of abuse by the Catholic Church say the number of complaints released by the church fails to capture the real number of sufferers, which could be six-times more.

The new figures from the church show one in seven Catholic clergy who work for a bishop have had abuse complaints laid against them.

More than 1100 survivors have made almost 1700 complaints since 1950; most against priests, brothers and nuns for sexually abusing children.

Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests national leader Dr Christopher Longhurst spoke to Susie Ferguson.
