Aucklanders are facing planned power outages over the coming weeks, but it could not come at a worse time for some. More than 3000 people in the city are isolating at home.
On top of that, thousands of people are working at home.
Lines company Vector says to minimise the impacts of outages during the past two years, work on the network was significantly reduced by around two thirds.
A backlog maintenance vital for the network means it's now, or never.
