Petrol price drop a boost for struggling New Zealanders - advocate

From Morning Report, 6:41 am on 15 March 2022

New Zealanders should be paying less for petrol today with the government cutting its fuel excise duty by 25 cents.

Fuel companies have been told to pass the discount on to consumers, providing relief for those who have found the cost of living accelerating beyond their means.

The tax relief will last three months - as will a reduction in road user charges and a halving of the price of public transport.

Nelson-based beneficiary advocate Kay Brereton spoke to Corin Dann.
