Thousands of MIQ rooms across the country - and 23 entire hotels - are now sitting empty as the system winds down.
The Jet Park, Holiday Inn and Waipuna in Auckland, and the Commodore in Christchurch, are the only four MIQ facilities that will remain beyond the middle of the year.
