White Ferns almost out of Women's Cricket World Cup

From Morning Report, 7:57 am on 21 March 2022

The White Ferns' have only a slim mathematical chance of reaching the Women's Cricket World Cup semi-finals after their heart-breaking loss to England.

New Zealand were on the brink of victory after spinner Frances Mackay ripped through England's lower order at Eden Park but it wasn't enough, with the defending champions sneaking home by one wicket.

With four losses from six games, the White Ferns must win their final pool game against Pakistan and hope a string of other results go their way.

They'll have to assess injuries to key players Sophie Devine and Lea Tahuhu.
