Towering above the flat Manawatū countryside are cranes working overtime constructing hangars for Ohakea air force base's new aircraft.
It's an expensive project, with building work costing $250m and the aircraft themselves costing $2.3b.
Manawatū reporter Jimmy Ellingham took a walk around the building site.
