From Morning Report, 7:55 am on 10 May 2022

Half-price fares on public transport have led to a surge in patronage, with 50 percent more bus and train trips in Auckland, and a 30 percent increase in Wellington.

The discount was announced as a three-month Government trial, but a Newshub-Reid Research poll found a majority kiwis want to see the cheaper tickets made permanent, with 67 percent in favour, 24 percent opposed and the rest not sure.

Public Transport Users Association national coordinator Jon Reeves spoke to Corin Dann.
