Large ships' anchors damaging port seabeds - researcher

New research shows the anchors of large ships are damaging the seabed at busy ports, which could threaten some marine species.

Researchers from NIWA, Auckland University and Auckland University of Technology have used sonars and ship-tracking data to document the effects of anchoring outside Picton.

They say it's revealed an extensive and persistent impact.

NIWA marine geophysicist Dr Sally Watson spoke to Corin Dann.
