Auckland Council defers vote on parking strategy

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 27 July 2022

Auckland Council has deferred a vote on plans to significantly reduce on-street parking spaces in favour of cycling and bus lanes.

More than 900 submissions came in during consultation, the vast majority of which were against the plan.

Auckland Transport isn't happy with its own consultation and says it needs to try again, saying there were gaps in public feedback and consultation with Māori.

Auckland Ratepayers' Alliance spokesperson Josh Van Veen says Auckland Transport is wasting time, and councillors should get on and vote.

He spoke to Corin Dann.
