Stories of loss and destruction were heard at a meeting for flood-affected people in the Nelson-Tasman region.
More than a hundred residents turned up yesterday to find out what support is available to them.
Hundreds of homes are still awaiting assessments - with nine red-stickered and considered unlivable - as the city remains under a state of emergency.
