Hundreds of surgeries are likely to be postponed as a result of the snap public holiday announced by the Government for Monday 26 September.
Huge waiting lists have formed for non-urgent surgeries as a result of Covid-19 disruptions over many, many months.
Just as surgeons were starting to get on top of the wait lists, they say this public holiday will throw a spanner into the works.
