Australia's Bureau of Meteorology has declared a third straight La Niña.
That follows in the footsteps of New Zealand's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research which has signalled another La Niña's arrival for several months.
While Australia can expect more wet weather and possible flooding as a result, New Zealand is set for a slightly different outcome.
NIWA meteorologist Chris Brandolino spoke to Susie Ferguson.
