An international security expert says two New Zealanders who were released from Iran yesterday were likely pawns in a government plot to sensor any criticism of the regime.
Topher Richwhite and Bridget Thackwray are understood to have been detained for months after entering Iran.
Massey University senior lecturer Negar Partow was born and raised in Iran, and says there is a pattern of this kind of action in Iran.
