National's Tama Potaka is on his way to Parliament today having claimed victory in this weekend's Hamilton West by-election.
He won the seat by more than two thousand votes, beating Labour candidate Georgie Dansey and flipping the bellwether electorate blue.
Opposition parties say the win shows people want a change in government.
However, Labour is partially pinning their loss on a voter turnout of only 31.4 percent.
Potaka spoke to Kim Hill.
