Volodymyr Zelensky set to speak to NZ parliament

From Morning Report, 7:25 am on 14 December 2022

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky will address parliament on Wednesday.

Parliament will sit at 8am and hear a 10 minute address from Zelensky, via video link.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and leader of the opposition Christopher Luxon will both respond.

This comes just weeks after Defence Minister Peeni Henare travelled to Ukraine to visit the capital Kyiv, and offer further support to the nation after Russia's invasion of the country.

New Zealand has already committed roughly $30 million to help Ukraine, and has sent troops to the United Kingdom to train Ukrainian soldiers.

Political reporter Katie Scotcher has more on the address.
