Gisborne's housing crisis has got even worse as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle.
In the wake of the massive storm there are more than 170 red and yellow stickered homes and more flood damaged houses still have to be inspected.
It's going to be hard to find somewhere for people to live - the city suffers from a chronic shortage of rental accommodation, the motels are full and there are more than 560 people on a waiting list for state houses.
