The Hurricanes laid down a marker against Australian opposition, smashing the Reds 47-13.
In Super Rugby Aupiki Chiefs Manawa had a big win to start, 53-21 over the Hurricanes Poua, and Matatū, the South Island side, just edged the Blues women 33-31.
