A Wellington mother of two says her fight for life against cancer has left her broke after the public health system messed her around for years.
The woman, who RNZ won't identify was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.
She experienced delays, surgery appointments being misplaced, and then a series of doctors arguing over what care she should, or can, get - all the while, as the cancer spread
In the end, last year, she paid thousands to go private.
The woman received an apology over delays from Wellington district health but her wider complaint against it is still inching along.
